Horrible Logos: Urban Outfitters Edition

The new Gap logo was such an incredible failure that the corporate giant reversed its decision to use it. By most accounts, the end result was a horrible—and horribly expensive—waste of time. It seems unlikely that many corporations would willingly seek to invest resources in an intended failure, but that’s what Urban Outfitters has done with its logo, to the grand sum of $5.

The new and unimproved logo comes courtesy of HorribleLogos.com. For just $5, Horrible Logos will design a horrific business card-sized logo for your business. In what may be a brilliant marketing tactic that mocks the Gap debacle, someone at Urban Outfitters enlisted the “talent” at Horrible Logos to generate publicity, web traffic and trending on twitter. No need to go into any details as to why this logo is bad—the designer can tell you that himself. Then again, they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

A billboard advertising nothing but clean air….

We came across this at Fast Co. Design. It’s actually a government-funded piece placed on the border crossing into Canada. As opposed to distracting attention away from the landscape like typical billboards, the objective was to call attention to the landscape. Well done…

IDG, the world’s largest tech media company, came to us with a challenge: how do we communicate the breadth of services we offer to a multitude of diverse audiences across the globe?

Our solution: an action-packed 90-second brand film that drives home the fact that IDG is no longer only a magazine publisher, but the leader in the digital, event services, market intelligence, and social media spaces.

Combining 3D rendering, more than 250 multimedia assets, and a dynamic music track, we’re proud of the final product now traversing the world with the “who’s who” of tech executives.
